EL COMUNERO
Fight songs of the Spanish Republic / Rock

It was 100 years ago that Manuel Jimenez, a Spanish resistance republican in France, was dubbed "Comunero" by his CNT anarchist brothers-in-arms to mock his communist commitment. Ten years ago, his grandson founded El Comunero to pay tribute to him. Since then, the seven musicians (from the groups "The Screams of Leo, The Air of Nothing, Elektric Geïsha ...") have released four albums, played in France and abroad and supported various militant causes putting into perspective this story of yesterday and the struggles of today.
Thomas Jimenez: vocals, guitar / Pierre Bertaud-du-Chazaud:
clarinet, choir / Vincent Ruiz: flamenco guitar, bouzouki / Arnaud Courcelle: accordion / Renaud Eychenne: double bass / Max Richard: drums, cajón

+ Screening of the animated film Boléro Paprika by Marc Menager Paprika (20mn)
In France in the fifties, Diego, a son of Spanish republicans in exile, attends a round of police who targets his mother and grandfather among the last opponents of the Franco regime. Immersed in memories of a still burning story, Diego will save the memory of those who resisted totalitarianism
